PHASE 1

step 1:

conceptualization and kickoff meeting

WHO: Designer and Client 

WHAT: Meeting to discuss design ideas and concepts for the space. 

WHERE: Design Studio

PREPARE: Consider your vision, as well as how you use the space, so that our team has a comprehensive idea of your needs and wishes.

You’ll also receive comprehensive updates on conceptualization, design development, drafting, sourcing, implementation, and vendor communication. WHO: Designer and Client

WHAT: Survey project location/existing client home, create detailed inventory of Client’s existing furniture.

WHERE: Client’s Existing Home

PREPARE: Consider which (if any) pieces of existing furniture you’d like to keep. Review any pre-meeting updates provided by the designer.

step 3: concept board meeting

WHO: Designer and Client

WHAT: Designer will provide concept boards with initial design ideas, concepts and floor plan layouts to review. 

WHERE: Design Studio

PREPARE: Check Slack for any between-meeting updates regarding conceptualization and design development from Designer and Team.

PHASE 2

design

step 1: construction documentation

WHO: Designer, Architect and Client

WHAT: Collaborate with the architectural team to create design documentation, including space plans and elevations for areas to be worked on, such as cabinets, kitchen, tile, plumbing, and lighting.

WHERE: Design Studio and Client’s Job Site

PREPARE: Consider your desires, needs, and investment commitment. Be open to new ideas as the team refines your vision.

step 2: construction selections

WHO: Designer and Client

WHAT: Curate a comprehensive array of construction materials and finishes, encompassing paint, tile, stone, flooring, textures, lighting, hardware, and plumbing elements.

WHERE: Design Studio and Vendor Showrooms.

PREPARE: Thoughtfully evaluate available finish and fixture preferences.

step 3: furnishings and design board meetings

WHAT: The designer will present a comprehensive design proposal, including full space plans, design boards, and all furnishings for the entire project. Presentations will cover proposals for all furnishings, draperies, and other elements.

PREPARE: Review your feedback from previous design development meetings and consider any additional thoughts or adjustments you may have.

WHERE: Client’s Jobsite / Designer, Architect or Builder’s Office

PREPARE: Any dates/times/events that might impact timeline. Regularly check email for updates from Designer regarding purchasing, implementation, vendor communication, etc., as well as any deliverables.

step 2: implementation meetings

WHO: Designer/Assistant, Builder, Architect, Tradespeople (as necessary)

WHAT: Regular weekly meetings or as needed to review designs, assess progress, and address installation issues with the team. This is also a time to identify and resolve any problems that arise. These meetings are key to ensuring that all aspects of the design are being executed as planned and to maintaining clear communication among all parties involved.

WHERE: Client’s Jobsite

PREPARE: Be ready to make decisions as needed. The Designer, architect, and builder will handle much of the troubleshooting behind the scenes, but your input is crucial for resolving specific questions. The Designer and team will also be actively managing furnishings, purchasing, and communication with vendors during this phase.

step 3: completion check meeting

WHO: Designer, Client, Contractor, Tradespeople (as necessary)

WHAT: A detailed walkthrough to evaluate and approve the jobsite.

WHERE: Client’s Jobsite

PREPARE: Your builder will handle the final details and ensure everything is properly in place. We will work with you to address any outstanding issues and collaborate with your builder to make any necessary adjustments, ensuring clear communication with your team.

PHASE 4

WHAT: Coordinating with trades to ensure a smooth installation process. Furnishings will be delivered over several days. The designer will be on-site for the final furniture installation and will bring in additional accessories as needed to complete the look.

WHERE: Client’s Newly Finished Home

PREPARE: Plan to be away from home until the grand reveal! This will allow us to set everything up and ensure that your new space is ready for you to enjoy.
