Reintroducing EJD

With the commencement of the new year, we extend a warm welcome back to the June Journal! And for those of you who are joining us for the first time, a heartfelt welcome to the June Journal community. Originally conceived as a means to foster a deeper connection with our audience, moving beyond the conventional client-follower relationship, the June Journal has evolved into a vibrant space where we share our journey.

The year 2023 brought in a multitude of exciting projects, introducing us to a fresh wave of clients and followers. As we the first June Journal entry of the year, we felt it fitting to either introduce ourselves anew or provide a reintroduction, delving a little further into banishing the beige!

We are Emily June Designs, a full-service interior design studio founded by Principal Designer Emily June Spanos. The studio's doors opened in 2016, setting the stage for a whirlwind of experiences filled with vibrant patterns, lively colors, and an abundance of fun.

Meet The Team

Emily June Spanos

Emily, our Principal Designer and founder, embarked on her career in 2005, gaining valuable experience with various interior design studios. Her expertise extends to a diverse range of specialties, largely due to her background in working with window treatments, cabinetry, and furnishings. In 2016, she took a bold step and opened the doors to the EJD studio, marking the beginning of her entrepreneurial journey. With a keen focus on detail, Emily has also worked closely with custom home builders, bringing a unique and personalized touch to each project.

Courtney Finnen

Courtney has been an integral part of Emily June's team since 2005, initially joining as an intern. She pursued her passion for Interior Design at Sam Houston State University, earning her degree. Recently, Courtney achieved a well-deserved promotion to Junior Designer on the EJD team. We are thrilled to witness her professional growth in this role and eagerly anticipate the stunning spaces she will contribute to in the upcoming year.

 Francisco Camacho Duran

Our newest addition to the EJD team is Francisco G. Having joined us just six months ago, Francisco has already proven to be an invaluable asset. His style effortlessly aligns with the vision and goals of EJD, making him a seamless fit within our team. Before joining us, Francisco contributed to another design studio, bringing a wealth of experience. He is also a proud member of the graduating class of 2021 from Sam Houston State University. We consider ourselves fortunate to have him on board.

When discussing with the team, the conversation naturally gravitated towards our favorite aspect of our work – the genuine involvement in the process of transforming houses into homes. Experiencing the final reveal is exceptionally rewarding. Witnessing the sheer delight on our clients' faces is what brings us the utmost joy in our profession. We firmly believe that the spaces one surrounds oneself with significantly influence emotions. Your home, in particular, should serve as a true reflection of your identity. Observing projects come to fruition is the very essence that makes all our efforts and dedication worthwhile.

A Unique Journey with EJD Studio

The question we're often asked is: What exactly do interior designers do? While we can't speak for the practices of other designers, we can certainly shed light on the approach we embrace here at the EJD studio. Our journey commences with a collaborative meeting, bringing together our dedicated Designers and the Client at our inviting Design Studio. This initial encounter serves as the bedrock for comprehending your vision, needs, and desires. Adopting a comprehensive approach, we delve into discussions surrounding design ideas and conceptualizations. Notably, we boast an extensive residential portfolio and have extended our expertise to collaborate with contractors and architects on new home builds. Although the specific steps in our process may vary for each project, the level of care and intentionality remains the same. It's the essence of what we do.

Getting back to “why”

This year at Emily June, we're delving even deeper into the heart of our purpose. Yes, we could sit here and tell you all about the process from concept to final install and how and what is going to happen—that is straightforward. It's the "why" that truly matters. Our why transcends a mere appreciation for textures, patterns and crafting spaces; it's about the joy of transforming a house into a genuine home for someone. Beyond meeting our high standards, we are committed to ensuring that every project we undertake reflects not only our expertise but also encapsulates the essence of our clients. In every nook and cranny, we aim to weave the threads of their character and personality. Whether it's incorporating cherished family trinkets that transport you to your favorite childhood summer or featuring a piece of furniture from a beloved vacation spot, we make no compromises.
